Farewell & Best Wishes to our Departing Field Director, Randolph Carr III

Our hearts are full of love and deep gratitude as we announce the departure of our beloved comrade, randolph carr III, who is leaving the National Black Food & Justice Alliance to pursue doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison starting this Fall (woot woot!). randolph has been a powerful force helping to shape the direction, culture and strategies of the Alliance since he came onboard during the Alliance’s infancy in early 2016. randolph departs from his most recent post as NBFJA’s Field Director where he has successfully supported and advanced membership recruitment, facilitated regional strategy towards the development of a collective land defense analysis, and supported the framework for NBFJA’s most recent campaign to stop the Nicor Gas pipeline development in Pembroke Township, Il.

‘Although he is ever so humble, make no mistake, randolph carr III has been critical to NBFJA’s current status and success. We are forever grateful for his dedicated leadership and will continue to move steadfastly towards our collective goals of Black food sovereignty and land justice, sharpened by the organizing strategies, praxis, and groundwork laid by all who came together to courageously imagine and pursue what is possible when we work together. A quote from Nelson Mandela that sort of personifies RCIII, “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.” ‘
